TCS GoSafe app enables collection of driving behavior data leveraging smartphones and provides insights and feedback to drivers as well as insurance companies. The app collects certain information from the users. This document describes the information that we collect and how’s it’s used.

Information we collect

TCS GoSafe Mobile services are enabled once the user installs the smartphone app and signs in. The app has the capability to run in background and automatically activate when it detects driving activity or significant movement that resembles vehicle travel.

The app collects following information to analyze driving behavior

GPS data (location information, speed).

Accelerometer, gyroscope data.( for detecting movements ).

Distance travelled in a drive.

Time of ride.

Acceleration, Speeding, Braking, Cornering derived from GPS or accelerometer data.

Bluetooth connection information.

Email address and phone number.

Wifi Connection information.

Battery level and charging status.

Internet connectivity ( Cellular or Wifi ).

Speed, RPM, ignition information from vehicle’s on-board computer when connected to an OBD ( On-board Diagnostics ) dongle.

To enable our services, we also capture minimal information to authenticate and authorize a user by means of email ID or a unique member id.

Some features of the app like Emergency Calls will leverage contacts data from phone’s address book. However, it will not be transmitted to TCS servers.

How we use the information we collect?

The information collected from the application will be used for analysis of driving behavior of the users. For instance, speed data from GPS will be used to check for speeding incidents, rapid accelerations etc. We would also use the information to calculate driving behavior scores and identify driving tips to the user. The driving data collected from phone might also be combined with data from other data sources (like traffic feeds) for enhancing the application.

The location data will be leveraged in an anonymous manner for deriving insights on the pattern of use, delivering value added services (like traffic alerts etc). The anonymous location data may be used for future enhancements as well.

Email address and Phone number is collected for authenticating the user and is kept in securely encrypted format.

We anonymize and aggregate the data we collect and may use it for deriving additional insights like user comparison etc. We may share this aggregated data with our affiliates, business partners, and users. No personally identifiable information will be shared.

We may need to disclose data we collect when requred by law or other legal process in the geographies in which we operate.

Data security

TCS will take all reasonable means to ensure that the data collected from the app is stored securely.

All sensitive data like account passwords will be stored in encrypted format.

All communications will be secured by means of SSL.

TCS applications are regularly tested for security vulnerabilities and fixes ( if any ) are done to protect against any attacks.

Only authorized TCS staff will have access to have application data and adheres to TCS organizational security guidelines and practices.

Changes

Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will notify any privacy policy changes to all concerned. We will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive for your review.
